PART 1: THE MONEY NEVER CAME TO THEM
Daniela felt the phone weigh a ton.
“I know you’re with them.”
His mother read the message over her shoulder and paled.
He found us.
Why are you afraid of Mauritius?
His father looked again at the black van.
“Because that truck is one of the people you owe money to.
Daniela stood still.
What money?
Her mother started crying.
“Yours.
Over the next few minutes, the truth came to pieces.
The first years, Mauricio did give them part of the transfers.
Then he started to stay with small quantities.
Then with half.
Finally, with everything.
When her parents asked, he claimed that Daniela had stopped sending money.
“He told us that you had formed another life in Spain,” his mother whispered. That you were tired of keeping us.

Eight years of proof.
His father covered his face.
“Then everything was a lie.
But the worst was missing.
Mauritius had used documents signed by his parents to secure debts from a company he had created with a partner.

“We’re going,” Daniela said.
His mother quickly denied.
“Mauritius said if we talk, he’ll get us in trouble.
“Mom.
Daniela picked up the coins from the ground and put them inside the glass.
Then he left it on the bank.
“You’re not going to ask for money here again.
That afternoon he set them up in a hotel.
He didn’t call Mauricio.
He did not answer his messages.
Instead, he contacted a lawyer and gave him absolutely everything.
Proof of transfers.
Photographs of the contract.
Messages.
Company data.
The lawyer took hours to check them.
He finally raised his head.
“Daniela, there’s something important here.
He turned the computer.
“The money you sent from Spain regularly went into the account you knew.
“Yes.
But then he was transferred.
Daniela pulled the chair.
Dozens of movements appeared on screen.
Many ended up in accounts linked to Mauritius.
Others were going to a company.
And some…
